Task 1 Matrix is a startup company that created a smart watch that can be powered by body heat. They plan to implement their technology to other medical devices as well.
The National Science Foundation has a research center for Nanosystems Engineering. A project within that center is Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) which has plans to take research of wearable thermoelectric generators to commercial applications.

Task 2 Arrow Electronics is a company associated with Matrix, who created a smart watch that is powered through body heat. Arrow Electronics mission is to provide products, services and solutions to comerscial users of electronic components. They provide specialized serivces and epertise on product lifecycles by connecting customers to the right technology. Arrow is a Fortune 150 company with 18,500 employees around the world and caters to telecomunication markets, information systems, transportation, medical , industrial and consumer electronics.
Task 3 We are looking to develop a hearing aid that is powered by thermal energy from the person’s body. Based on the Seebeck effect, if a thin conductive material was attached and wired to the hearing aid, then electricity can be generated to automatically power the batteries. The Seebeck effect is a phenomenon where a temperature difference between two dissimilar electrical conductors produces a voltage difference. Thermal energy to power the hearing aid would be significant because it would decrease the cost of constantly buying batteries, decrease the rate of losing batteries, and decrease the amount of people that ingest the batteries. As an added advantage, this idea would cancel out the use of an extra intermediate object to charge the hearing aid which could possibly make the cost of the hearing aid cheaper.

Dear Hansaton,
My name is Izabella Filippini and I am currently a 12th grader at Nikola Tesla STEM High School. In my English class many people are participating in the Internet Science and Technology Fair (ISTF).
We have done some extensive research and have recognized that in our world today there are many disabling conditions that people are born with and/or develop over time. One big issue that has erupted is the increase in hearing loss among seniors, children, and especially teens. Constantly buying batteries, losing them, and possibly having little kids ingest them are all big problems of the small batteries inside hearing aids. That is why we have come up with an idea of heat powered hearing aids.
As I looked up companies that could produce our product, I came upon you company, Hansaton.
My partners Christine Pham, Rose Matta and I would love to conduct more research and execute this project, but we would need some additional advanced skill. We were wondering if you would be willing to advise us on our project with your expertise.
Thank you so much, and we look forward to hearing back from you!
Sincerely,
Izabella Filippini, Christine Pham, and Rose Matta
